Product Declaration

Polaris has completed an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its products from the Orca Quarry. An EPD is an independently verified and registered document that communicates transparent and comparable information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products. It will help our customers claim LEED v4 credit for their projects.

Our EPD will help customers meet the requirements for the following LEED v4 credt:
Category: Material & Resources
Credit: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization - EPDs (1 point)
Use at least 20 different permanently installed products sourced from at least five different manufacturers. Product specific Type III (3rd party verified)
EPDs count for full product credit. Other EPD types count for partial credit.

Our EPD covers the following products:

  • Washed Concrete Sand
  • Small Gravel (1/2" x #4)
  • Large Gravel (1" x #4)

Benefits of using Orca products under LEED v4 include:

  1. EPD results for Orca products can be used by ready-mix operators in preparation of their own EPDs for concrete mixes
  2. Orca products have the potential to count for up to three product credits of the 20 required to achieve this LEED credit.
  3. The results of the Orca EPD indicate that Orca can be delivered for less end-to-end carbon impact than comparable products.

Polaris' EPD for Orca products has been prepared by Climate Earth Inc. based in Berkeley, CA. Climate Earth has experience preparing EPDs for the ready-mix concrete and aggregates industries.

The EPD has been certified by ASTM, and can be found on their website here: https://www.astm.org/CERTIFICATION/DOCS/344.EPD_Polaris_Materials_final.pdf
